Where to Stay in Naples, Florida • 7 INCREDIBLE Areas

A scenic beach with white sand, people relaxing, a long pier stretching into the ocean, and a clear blue sky.

Naples is located in Collier County in Southwestern Florida and is best known for its stunning beaches, laid-back ambiance, luxurious shops, and excellent selection of world-class golf courses. For many people, this describes the ideal vacation spot, so they start asking where to stay in Naples, Florida.

Well, you’re in luck – because I compared all the Naples neighborhoods and selected the best ones for your stay.

The top spot for a stay in this gorgeous city is Old Naples, an area full of amazing restaurants, shops, and hotels and is home to the city’s most attractive landmarks.

To make your choice easier, I looked at all hotel options in Naples, Florida, and picked the most attractive options for each recommended area and price category.

I also have to tell you that it’s very important to book in advance for places in Naples, as it is a very popular destination, and you can’t always rely on last-minute hotel deals.

Let’s start discovering beautiful Naples, Florida!

If you are in a hurry

Here are the top hotels in Old Naples, Florida:

This map will help you visualize the 7 areas of Naples, Florida, recommended in this post:

1. Old Naples – where to stay for the first time

Colorful Mediterranean-style building with archways and a central statue, surrounded by lush gardens under palm trees, exemplifying Naples’ vibrant architecture.Colorful Mediterranean-style building with archways and a central statue, surrounded by lush gardens under palm trees, exemplifying Naples’ vibrant architecture.

If you are visiting Naples for the first time, the ideal place to stay is definitely the most popular and lively neighborhood – Old Naples. There is so much to do and see here for everyone. With just a simple stroll through Old Naples’s streets, you will see great architecture, fancy restaurants, and many shops, museums, and art galleries.

One of the most famous landmarks in Old Naples is the Naples Pier (map), which was built in 1888. The pier is a popular spot for fishing, but if you’re lucky, you may even spot the dolphins playing in the water. The Pier is also the ultimate spot to watch the sunset – you don’t want to miss out on those views, trust me!

NOTE: Naples is part of a larger area known as Collier County. In fact, Naples makes up most of the county, and the 2 are sometimes used interchangeably. So, don’t be confused if you hear/read Collier County when people are talking about Naples.

Then, there’s the beach, of course! Naples Beach (map) is a long (7-mile/11-km) sandy beach with a very laid-back atmosphere and a great place to spend your day under the Naples sun.

Just 2 blocks away from Naples Pier, you’ll find Third Street South (map), a charming part of the neighborhood that’s usually called the ‘birthplace of Naples’. Here, you can see original turn-of-the-century architecture and colorful beach cottages, as well as many fine-dining restaurants and interesting shops.

Another part of Old Naples you should definitely visit is Tin City Waterfront Shops (map). This cool district features many independent shops and small boutiques, waterfront restaurants, and the most popular departure points for cruises and tours. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of ways to occupy your time in Tin City.

Finally, if you’re looking for a place to unwind and relax after a long day at the beach, head to Cambier Park (map). Here, you’ll find various sports courts and a playground, and you might even catch a live music performance!

The Bellasera is one of the best luxury hotels in Naples. It features a heated outdoor pool, fitness center, poolside cabanas, and an on-site restaurant. All rooms are bright and spacious, and each has a private balcony overlooking the courtyard. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi and parking, and free baby cots for children under 2 years of age.

Stretching from the Tamiami Trail that runs through Old Naples all the way to the Gulf of Mexico is possibly the most famous street in Naples – Fifth Avenue South. Unofficially known as ‘Main Street,’ the avenue is the city’s bustling hub of life, overflowing with designer stores and upscale shops.

FUN FACT: The Tamiami Trail (or US Highway 41) got its name after the 2 destinations it connects: Tampa and Miami!

Fifth Avenue South is often called the ‘crown jewel of Naples’ as it hosts some of the most impressive residential homes in the city, but for tourists, the main activities are shopping and dining.

If you want to spend the day shopping, you’ll be happy to learn that you’ll find everything from designer brands and upscale jewelry to clothing stores and gift shops. As for dining, there’s an abundance of choices, but I recommend the Osteria Tulia (map) for classic Italian dishes and The French Brasserie Rustique (map) for a lovely brunch.

Staying on Fifth Avenue South is a good idea because, besides the shopping and dining opportunities, there’s a good selection of hotels, plus access to Naples Beach. Better yet, the walk up to the beach is very scenic, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy every moment of your stay here.

As far as Marriott hotels go, this is the best one in Naples, with a pool, fitness facilities, and a business center. Other perks of staying here include luggage storage, a 24/7 front desk, private parking, and air conditioning. Best of all, there’s a rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

3. East Naples – where to stay in Naples, Florida on a budget

Tranquil pond with water lilies and a waterfall feature, surrounded by lush tropical plants and a colorful mural in the background, located in a serene garden settingTranquil pond with water lilies and a waterfall feature, surrounded by lush tropical plants and a colorful mural in the background, located in a serene garden setting

East Naples is located Southeast of the city center and very close to Naples Municipal Airport. As this is an inland neighborhood, instead of beaches, you will find nice parks, golf courses, shops, restaurants, and cafes. Even though it is a chic neighborhood, you will be able to find more budget-friendly places to stay compared to other areas of Naples.

However, don’t let the fact that this isn’t a beachfront neighborhood turn you away. Naples Beach is just a 10-min drive away, and there are plenty of other things to keep you occupied during your stay in East Naples.

The neighborhood is also a great choice if you’re traveling with family, as there are many kid-friendly activities. You can go for a picnic and a swim at Sugden Regional Park (map), explore Naples Botanical Gardens or play mini-golf at Coral Cay Adventure Golf (map).

You can also pay a visit to the Collier Museum at Government Center and try a variety of delicious street foods from the food trucks at Celebration Park (map), or seek out some of the other amazing restaurants scattered around the neighborhood.

The East Naples neighborhood is a great starting point for a variety of day trips from Naples, as it’s situated right next to the Tamiami Trail. You can hop over to Marco Island or choose another destination to your liking. This is also a great place to stay if you’re traveling with a car and planning to drive around the city.

Combining modernity with nature, Pelican Bay is the coolest neighborhood in Naples. Located North of Park Shore and Naples city center (a 15-min drive away), Pelican Bay is an interesting area with high-rise buildings by the shore surrounded by a forest with palm trees and stunning views of the bay.

Pelican Bay is a largely residential area and one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the city. However, there are a few amazing hotels and many cafes, bars, and restaurants that make this an amazing spot for tourists as well as for locals. Plus, there are plenty of shopping opportunities at the Waterside Shops (map).

If you feel like going for a swim, Clam Pass Park (map) is the place to go! It’s a gorgeous white-sand beach accessible through a boardwalk surrounded by mangroves – it’s a very scenic, relaxing walk – I wouldn’t miss it if I were you.

Vanderbilt Beach (map) is also easily accessible from Pelican Bay, but if you’re up for something a little different, you can always pack a picnic and enjoy it by the lake in Pelican Bay Community Park (map).

In Pelican Bay, it is very easy to escape from busy city life. You can hop on a boat and take a day trip to Sanibel Island for some wilderness adventures or simply head to one of the city parks to chill in nature.

Coquina Sands was the first beachfront residential neighborhood in Naples, situated just North of Old Naples and South of the Moorings and Park Shore neighborhoods. It’s a very quiet and laid-back area, perfect if you’re traveling with your family. – you’ll be away from the dynamic lifestyle of the city center but still super close to all the main attractions.

Lowdermilk Park (map) is the main beach in the neighborhood. It’s super family-friendly and has all the facilities you need to spend a worry-free day in the sun. All you need to think about is enjoying the soft sand and making sandcastles with your kids!

If you want to change things up a bit, Naples Beach and Naples Pier are easily accessible from Coquina Sands, as is the Via Miramar Beach (map) in the adjacent Moorings neighborhood.

If you’re still looking for family-friendly activities, you needn’t look much further. Just outside the neighborhood borders, across the Goodlette-Frank Road, you’ll find Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, where you can meet and interact with many different animal species, and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, which offers many cool kids’ programs.

Since this is a largely residential area, you will find many vacation rentals. If you are looking for more private homes for your holidays, check out this post for the most unique Airbnbs in Florida.

Naples Park is an upscale residential neighborhood just a 20-minute drive North of Old Naples. Many travelers flock here for its proximity to great restaurants, upscale shops, and other attractions. Thanks to the many luxury accommodations, it’s a good choice for deluxe travelers, especially golfers, as you’ll be able to choose from a selection of nice golf resorts.

The very famous Vanderbilt Beach (map) is just next to Naples Park, too. This amazing beach has powdery white sand and, usually, a refreshing onshore wind to keep you cool in summer. There are also plenty of things to do in Vanderbilt Beach, like spotting dolphins and diving pelicans or enjoying snacks and ice cream in the cafes.

The Naples Park neighborhood is super close to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park (map), so you should spend at least a day at the beach here and try some water sports – I recommend snorkeling!

If you’re up for a drive, the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples is 15-min away and a must-visit if you’re traveling with family. But if you’re still looking for cool ways to spend your time during your stay here, I suggest you make the trip to Fort Myers – it’s less than an hour’s drive away!

My final recommendation for your stay in Naples, Florida, goes out to Park Shore. Situated directly South of Pelican Bay and 5 miles / 8 km North of Old Naples, this beachfront neighborhood has a very relaxed vibe and is perfect if you’re planning a romantic getaway to Naples.

When you’re in the mood for some beach time, you can choose between Public Beach (map) and Park Shore Beach Park (map). Both are great choices for a chill day at the beach, so if you have the time, I recommend you visit both.

For shopping (and dining), head to The Village Shops on Venetian Bay (map), a waterfront shopping complex with many attractive shops and restaurants overlooking the water. And if that wasn’t enough, you can also explore the Neapolitan Way Shopping Center (map) and Park Shore Plaza (map), 2 other great choices for shopping in the area.

You’ll find plenty of restaurants around the neighborhood; whether you want a quick snack or a romantic dinner, you’ll certainly find what you’re looking for in Park Shore. Plus, there’s an amazing selection of hotels and resorts – essentially, everything you need for a couple’s retreat.

Naples is renowned for its beaches, so many people specifically want to know where to stay in Naples, Florida, on the beach. Although I’ve already included several beach hotels and resorts in my recommendations, I decided to single out 3 additional choices right by the beach.

  • Hotel Escalante ($$$) – this beach hotel is a short distance away from Fifth Avenue South and offers a year-round outdoor pool, in-room spa services, free bike rentals, and a complimentary shuttle to/from the beach.
  • Naples Grande Beach Resort ($$$) – an upscale beach resort featuring 3 outdoor pools, a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, and as many as 15 tennis courts. There are also 5 restaurants on-site, and in-room dining is also offered.
  • Vanderbilt Beach Resort ($$) – a beachfront resort offering private beach access, a heated outdoor pool, a private tennis court, and a restaurant open for lunch and dinner.

Lastly, I wanted to recommend one of the most amazing beach resorts in Florida – the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor. Situated just an hour’s drive away from Naples, in Charlotte Harbor, this is an amazing beachfront accommodation and one of the most luxurious options in South Florida.
