Bonjour reader, and welcome to Lille, France’s 4th largest city! Lille is the perfect weekend getaway from Paris (or Brussels) and an interesting town that offers both rich history and modern-day charm.

I had a lot of train overlays in Lille and know the city center pretty well, so I decided to group all of its best hotels to help you decide where to stay!

Stay in Lille Centre for the first time to be within walking distance to all the attractions. I included just enough hotels here for all budgets, so I’m sure you’ll find an option you like!

Of course, I’ve also got you covered with nice accommodations (hotels and apartments) in other districts, and then, in the end, you’ll find a quick bonus on airport hotels (just in case you need those)! I only picked out the top-rated stays that I myself would gladly stay in, so I hope you’ll enjoy my selection!

P.S. Remember to book your stay in Lille in advance to secure the best deals!

Lille’s main areas are so compact and all border each other, so it takes less than an hour to walk around them. But nevertheless, there are 3 different areas that stand out and are where most of the tourists choose to stay, so I wanted to describe them briefly for you below.

  • Lille Centre – the main commercial and modern center of Lille where the Grand Place is located (Lille’s central square, the heart and soul of the city); stay here if you want to be close to Lille’s highlights or you’re visiting for the first time
  • Vieux Lille – a historic area just next to Lille Centre dating from the 17th century with romantic cobblestone streets and beautiful gardens around the Citadelle; it’s also where the birth home of Charles de Gaulle is located. Great place to stay for history nerds, but also has a fair share of nice restaurants.
  • Euralille – best area to stay near the train station, for shopping, and business; if you’re just passing by or just plan an overnight stay in Lille, don’t think twice, book a hotel in this area

Here is a map highlighting where these 3 areas are located:

For every hotel I mention below, I’ll highlight the area where it’s located for your easy reference!

PRO TIP: Visit Lille on the first Sunday of September (dates can vary from year to year) for one of the largest open flea markets and street festivals in Europe called Braderie de Lille! This magical event dates back to the 12th century!

And if you’re short on time, consider a short 75-minute convertible bus or a 2-hour guided walking tour to quickly cover all the Lille highlights!

If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates more freedom and that homey feel when traveling, you may prefer to stay in an apartment. And hey, if you’re traveling with a large group or family, you can save a lot by booking a single spacious apartment for all of you!

Luckily, Lille has plenty of great apartments in the central areas!

Luxury (€130 and up)

  • Hyper Center Triplex – Searching for a central, boutique apartment? The search is over, trust me! This building is within walking distance of Grand Place and has a good location with access to all the best attractions. It’s spacious, clean, very cozy, and sleeps up to 9 guests, so it is perfect if you travel with a large group!
  • Loft Lille – If you’re looking for a luxurious apartment for a bigger family or friends, this loft might be the perfect place! With a spacious living and dining area, you can gather around and eat together. There’s also a private roof terrace with a beautiful garden where you can relax while waiting for sunset!

Mid-range (€100 – €130)

  • L’Atelier 144 BIS – This small studio in an 18th-century building is spotless and cozy, offering everything you might need for a pleasant night’s sleep. Another incredible perk of staying in this building is the location; Lille Flandres Train Station, Grand Place, and the Museum of Fine Arts are 300m away!
  • Charming Home in The Historic Core – This one has a minimalist bedroom that is warm and inviting, and I just love the decor choices! Not to mention the price is excellent considering the very central spot – near the train station and close to Old Lille, one of the best places to stay in Lille.

Budget (up to €100)

  • Lille Ctre/Parking Privé Gratuit/Très Calme/2 Appt – This apartment building is ideal for anyone who wants to save money during their stay in Lille. It’s super beautiful, affordable, and situated on a very calm, quiet street. Perfect for two guests!

BONUS: Best hotels near Lille Airport

If you have a very early flight or arrive in Lille late at night, one of the best decisions you could make is to spend the night near the airport! Lille Airport (LIL) is based in Lesquin, only 7 km from the city center, and it has some really nice hotels nearby despite being a small airport.

Now here are my favorite hotel options, one for each budget:

  • Luxury: Hôtel Mercure Lille Aéroport – This hotel is located less than 1 km from the airport, and it awaits all the upscale amenities (including a free airport shuttle). The rooms are just incredible, perfect to squeeze in a quick rest before or after your flight!
  • Mid-range: ibis Styles Lille Aéroport – Your typical Ibis hotel with cozy and clean rooms, a free airport shuttle, and an excellent daily breakfast. I’m surprised by how spacious their rooms are, it’s a real treat!
  • Budget: Hôtel Agena – A really simple hotel with 40 rooms, modern amenities, and a delightful property in a quiet neighborhood. The only downside is that they don’t have a 24-hour front desk (they are open from 7 AM to 10:30 PM), so consider this when choosing your stay.

NOTE: Unfortunately, Lille airport doesn’t have any luggage-storing facilities. It’s a really small airport, after all. If you plan on doing more sightseeing after checking out, ask your hotel to leave the bags there or see if any of the Nanny Bag luggage storage locations will work for you.
