Nothing compares to island life! Sunshine all day long, the salty air, and taking each day as it comes! You’ll be able to experience all that in Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda!

Not only is this area filled with attractions, but it also offers easy access to other parts of the island by ferry, bus, or taxi. Yep, Hamilton is the perfect destination, especially if you’re traveling to Bermuda for the first time, want to stay near the beaches, and enjoy the best nightlife on the island!

You can learn about Bermuda’s history at places such as the Bermuda Historical Society Museum and discover some interesting pieces of architecture, such as The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity (map).

This island is full of surprises! Just wait until you get to the harbor and start exploring other parts of it. And once you come back from your day trips, I’m sure you’ll want to sleep and rest for the next day’s adventures at the best hotels.

Hamilton is also a great place for dining and high-end shopping (but do keep in mind that Bermuda is crazy expensive anyway!).

Mount Pleasant is an area located within a short drive from the capital (9 minutes by car), and it’s the ideal spot for anyone seeking relaxation close to the beaches but without the hustle and bustle of the capital.

This central region of the island is mostly a residential area, but it’s also known for its romantic setting and luxury resorts.

There are so many spots that you can explore here, and of course, most of them are bays and beaches! You’ll also be pretty close to places like Horseshoe Bay, known for the most beautiful beach on the island (map), and the other popular South Shore beaches.

The central beach of Mount Pleasant is Elbow Beach (map) on the East coast of the island, with at least 3 high-end resorts surrounding it. You may recognize Elbow Beach from The Sopranos TV series!

You’ll also find a great selection of restaurants across Mount Pleasant. And for those seeking an active, adrenaline-filled vacation, you can rent a bike or a moped at Oleander Cycles (map) and explore the island on 2 wheels.

Mt. Pleasant also offers access to some of the best golf courses in Bermuda, such as Belmont Hills Golf Club (map).

Do note that most of the accommodation here has high prices, so if you’re wondering where to stay in Bermuda on a budget, you better check areas further South.

St. George’s is the former capital of Bermuda, located 19 km (11 miles) East of Hamilton and just a few miles from the Bermuda Airport. There are plenty of things to do in Bermuda’s former capital that make St. George a great place to stay with families and everyone interested in active sightseeing!

St. George’s was the capital of Bermuda for 200 years until 1815, and it was the first permanent settlement of the British on the Bermuda islands!

The rich history of St. George’s has placed the city on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. The city is filled with historical landmarks, including the unique sight on the island, the Unfinished Church (map), the Fort St. Catherine (map) with stunning views, and St. Peter’s Church (map).

Here, you’ll also find multiple ferry and cruise ship terminals you can use to get to other parts of the island, beautiful forts, yacht clubs, restaurants, and many other attractions.

Just a short drive from St. George’s, in the nearby Flatts Village, you’ll find the island’s prime Zoo and Aquarium and the gorgeous Crystal and Fantasy Flames (map), beautiful caves with rock formations that are one of the main attractions of the island!

Located 12.4 miles (20 km) Southwest of Hamilton, Somerset Village is a bit more secluded than other parts of the island and is surrounded by stunning nature wherever you go!

So, if you’re looking for an active vacation where you can explore natural reserves, walk in parks, or sail in the ocean, then Somerset Village is a great place to stay!

You’ll find plenty of turtles who come to feed on the green grass of Mangrove Bay (map), a tiny but really cute beach in the area! There are also plenty of boat rental services and clubs, so you can sail out and explore the stunning waters of the Atlantic Ocean all by yourself!

Somerset is also a historical village where you can see some old monuments, including the Somerset Bridge (map), mentioned in Bermuda’s first parliament act held in 1620!

Somerset Bridge, which connects Somerset Island with the mainland in the western parish of Sandys, is supposedly the smallest working drawbridge in the world!

The Cambridge Beaches (map) and Sugar Cane Point Beach (map) are also located in this area, and both offer stunning views of the ocean. Whether you’re traveling with your family or maybe with your partner and you’re searching for a place that’s not too crowded, I think you’ll love Somerset Village!

Luxury hotel

Hog Bay is located just South of Somerset Village and is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the not-so-popular parts of the island! Filled with secluded beaches and unspoiled landscapes, Hog Bay is probably one of my favorite places in Bermuda!

Do note that Hog Bay is almost entirely a residential area, and there are very few nightlife opportunities, shops, and restaurants. I’d say, if you want to stay like a local, this is the perfect place! You’ll find vacation rentals on every corner, especially VRBOs!

The biggest perk of staying in Hog Bay has to be the lower accommodation prices! Since most of Bermuda is crazy expensive, it was really refreshing to see the prices for vacation rentals here compared to other parts of Bermuda.

If you love the idea of Hog Bay but would rather stay in a luxury place, you’re in luck! There’s a single luxury resort here, and it’s Pompano Beach Club:

Finding the perfect accommodation for your island holiday can be difficult, especially if you’re looking for A-list hotels that have many facilities like tennis courts, a private pool, or gardens!

But it’s even harder to find great hotels that are located on the beach because they all go so fast! More reasons why you should book in advance! That’s why I thought it would be of great help for everyone to make a list of the best hotels in Bermuda on the beach!

All the hotels below are a mix of luxury and mid-range.

  1. The Reefs Resort and Club – Your holiday pics will look stunning in the infinity pool of this resort!
