Traveling for the first time to Sarasota? Then there’s no better place to set base than Downtown!

This is the heart of the city and the place where you’ll find everything from restaurants to shopping spots, theaters, historical attractions, and art galleries.

Downtown is a pedestrian-friendly area so you can easily walk from one attraction to the other one. So you won’t really need a car if you stay here, unless you want to explore other parts of the city. But you can also use buses for that, if you don’t have a car.

But before you venture off to see other parts of the city, make sure you check all the attractions in the area!

Downtown Sarasota has definitely enough to keep your days full! So make sure to check some of the attractions like Sarasota Art Museum and the Sarasota Opera House (maybe you can even catch a show there).

The area is also brimming with green spaces where you can have a relaxing stroll like the Selby Botanical Garden and the Payne Park (map).

If you want to mingle with the locals and get a taste of the authentic side of Sarasota, make sure you check out the Farmer’s Market (map) which takes place every Saturday from 7AM to 1PM.

And talking about food, Downtown is packed with fab restaurants where you can enjoy some yummy dinners after a day of walking, like Owen’s Fish Camp (map) and Brick’s Smoked Meats (map).
